Description

The mural depicts my Mount Pleasant studio space, located just four blocks from the mural site, at Broadway and Quebec. The studio is filled with paintings I’ve made in the space, and the entire piece heavily references Matisse’s “The Red Studio.” The mural is my homage to Mount Pleasant studio spaces, which are quickly disappearing. Through the windows of the studio are the surrounding buildings, old and new, as well as a couple of cranes. The building that houses my studio is likely to be torn down soon, and I like the idea that a mural depicting the space may very well out last the space itself. This mural is generously supported by Hootsuite and Westbank Corp.
