Description

A female character is reclined between two lions, she is reaching out toward one of them. One lion is winged and yawning, the other observes beatifically over his shoulder. The scene depicts my emotional landscape, but echoes the inner process of many people that I talk to... The lions represent wild emotions and uncontrolled experiences, the woman is a characterization of Psyche. By depicting a person in the company of two wild animals I create for myself the coveted sensation of being the axis of effortless control amidst intense sensation and unforeseen circumstances. The lions look maximally calm to insinuate that fears quell once they have been faced and explored or befriended. One of the lions is winged to suggest that such a desired state of utter tranquility remains at times pure fantasy. I do hope that the scene of relaxed companionship sends good vibes for me, my friends and for the people of the area that it is painted for.
