Description

Fluorescent lights with lighting jells in painted white niches.

In “Skytones”, Anna Valentina Murch uses light to replicate the changing colors of the sky in the Boeing Arcade of Benaroya Hall, home to the Seattle Symphony.

Located in five areas along the upper level of the Boeing Arcade, concealed horizontal lines of fluorescent lights with color filters are programmed to create an abstract reference to a dissolving twilight. The five niches, each with three-foot radius corners which amplify the illusion of depth, connect horizontally, throughout three different sequences that run during concerts.

Location

Benaroya Hall, 200 University St
Seattle
