This site-specific series of five carrara marble sculptures was designed to greet the residents of the building and its visitors alike.
The sculptures are intended to evoke architectural fragments or ruins, and were inspired by the ruins left by the 1906 earthquake in this neighborhood. The chiseled, geometric surfaces create a rhythm between the forms and energize the negative space between them.
Deutsch's work consistently explores forms in relation to time, age, erosion, and loss.
