Description

This sculpture celebrates Admiral George Dewey’s victory at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish American War.

The inscription also includes a commemoration to the recently assassinated President William McKinley who was there for the monument's groundbreaking in 1901.

The sculpture is modeled after Alma de Bretteville, a Danish-American artist’s model and stenographer.

Fun Fact! She stands on a Corinthian column that’s 97 feet tall.
